I am not opposed to reasonable review and approval of material used for younger children under say the age of 16. Maybe this needs to be extended through high school and give local school boards the ability to determine the appropriateness of certain materials. While this amounts to censorship I am not opposed to giving local communities control over what goes on in their public schools.

But......I am totally opposed to any censorship, by regulation, of materials used in colleges and universities. There may be "censorship" by way of university or departmental policy in terms of materials used to teach certain subjects but those should be taken by the faculty themselves based on the specific facts and conditions are their school.

Colleges and universities should be largely free from social strictures because by their very nature they are there to expose students to a broad array of information.
