16. I discuss politics in great depth with my mother, and I have done so for decades.

1. Environment. Strong proponent. She is better informed than most environmentalists.
2. Outsourcing. Not sure. Economics and trade are not big drivers for me.
3. Health care. She does not support "Obamacare", but most vocal DUers do not support it, either. She does believe in having a health safety net.
4. Women's rights. Two fisted, militant. Walks the walk. Was the CEO of her organization. A fantastic role model.

Why is she a Republican is the face of all that? Hell, I don't know.

Why am I a Democrat when I believe that Monsanto is not the devil, that the EPA is actually functional, that nuclear energy is a viable alternative, that Keystone XL being approved will not trigger the end of existence? Well, partly because I find most Republicans to be poorly informed or willfully ignorant.

Evil? Nihilstic? Monsters? Nah.
