However, I think you have a warped view of the world. I know a lot of Republicans who are strong believers in anthropogenic climate change but oppose legislation to regulate CO₂ emissions. I know dozens of hard core women's right advocates who are Republicans. There are Democrats who are skeptical about the need for endless legislation controlling chemicals, agriculture and industry and who think GMOs are totally awesome. There are gay Republicans, and Democrats in the 1% who spend a significant amount of their time hiding assets to avoid taxes.

It may not make sense to you, but it is reality.
