Rev Jane Holmes loses Ministry Privilidges at Jail after Moral Mondays Arrest [View all]

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -
The rain wasn't enough to turn back the faithful from their weekly trek to the state capitol for Moral Monday, and among those returning to Raleigh this week is Reverend Jane Holmes
SNIP
"I received a phone call from the assistant director of chaplains advising me that I had to return my badges as a volunteer chaplain," Holmes told WBTV. "Plus I had to return my badge as clergy for visiting an Episcopalian in the jail there and that I would not be allowed back in as clergy."

Support for Reverend Holmes has come from local NAACP President Kojo Namtambu who has also gone to jail during the protests aimed at state lawmakers.

What's interesting is the support from the local NAACP is for the Rev. Holmes who is white, against a Police Chief who is black. (He might just be acting on orders from the tea bagger Governor McCrory). I will also be posting a letter from an inter faith group in NC telling the Governor what the Bible has to say about poverty, cutting unemployment, etc. It is worth reading. I'll be posting a twitter and facebook address soon as we'll likely try to twitter bomb either the Sheriff or the Gov about the incident.
