And it is a new twist the article brings up.

When Martin ran off Zimmerman got out of the car but quickly lost him. Because Zimmerman thought Martin lived there he wanted to get the address of where Zimmerman lived and it wasn't near where he parked his car so he had to get out. To Zimmerman, if he was only tailing Martin to get the address of where he lived he wasn't pursuing him, he was just tailing him. After Martin ran and ditched Zimmerman he found a hiding spot where he waited for nearly 4 minutes then when he thought the coast was clear, came out of his hiding spot only to notice that Zimmerman had spotted him and was coming in his direction and that is when all hell broke loose. Zimmerman probably thought there were legal problems if he told the truth so he covered that up with a lie. Obviously, this is speculation but it works. In fact, it fills in a lot of blanks.
