(13,390 posts)and a slippery slope. The more we get into genetic engineering the more we see a devaluation of people who only exist because their parents made a bad decision. Is it more expensive to raise girls? Are there so many that the traditional male power structure is threatened. Then what happens if we over correct? I know we are not behind on reproduction, but do we get closer to setting up conditions for a creation of "superior human breeding?" Is the fact that we are basically overpopulated a potentially a justification for policies with that in mind? We know that there is a segment of people in the US who are concerned about the white race disappearing into a brown and black America.
I wouldn't feel comfortable imposing my beliefs on someone else, but I think we should be careful where such ideas take us.
