(8,303 posts)They had to do everything just right, admittedly, but they could have done a much better job.
They also should have focused their theory on the manslaughter conviction, and I believe they could have gotten it.
I think if they had structured their case right they could have got culpable negligent manslaughter instructions in the jury charge, and that would have given the jury what they needed to convict.
Because - and I didn't even watch the whole trial, or even that much of it - Martin's account just doesn't hold up at points. I don't believe him. I don't think the jurors believed him entirely. The cops did not believe him entirely.
The one witness who said she heard an interchange should have been enough to close it for the prosecution if they had handled it differently.
