Because oil is a limitless, self-renewing resource which they are, naturally, obligated to sell to us on demand, paid for in the manner most beneficial to us, into eternity or until they run out, which of course will never happen because it is limitless and self-renewing.

Besides which, who the hell do they think they are to be able to defend themselves. It's not like anybody is threatening them...oh, wait...never mind.
