When Santorum speaks of "The Church," as he did last week in his criticism [View all]

of the President, what do you think he means? "Church" in the broadest sense of the word--all Christians? "Church" as in Roman Catholic Church? "Church" as in evangelical church? I ask because when he tried to set up a dynamic of the President being at war with "The Church," the term hung in the air for me. Who was he referring to and who was his intended audience?
