In reply to the discussion: Tavis Smiley On Obama's Trayvon Martin Speech: 'He Was Pushed To That Podium' (VIDEO) [View all]bvar22
(39,909 posts)The opinion expressed by Tavis Smiley and Cornell West that President Obama wan not forceful enough in confronting the rampant RACISM apparent in the Jury and SYG laws
is a VALID opinion.
I am disturbed that there is a Posse roaming DU attacking anybody who expresses this opinion and now directly branding them as "racists".
I have trouble wrapping my mind around the logic behind that attack.
If someone believe that President Obama should have used the Bully Pulpit more forcefully in calling out the RACISM of Zimmerman, the Zimmerman Jury, and the SYG laws,
that somehow makes them a "racist"?
I noticed that Not a Single attacker chose to confront the substance of Smiley's remarks,
and exposed any flaw in his logic or opinions.
Every Single One used Ad Hominem Logical Fallacies to attack the messenger.
I listened to the speech, and thought it was a "Good Speech",
but felt that he was very careful to Walk Exactly Down the Center Line,
and his speech was more to Calm the Troubled waters than to solve the Problem,
or take an Unequivocal STAND on the Issues involved.
That IS My Opinion.
