(38,613 posts)That being said, whether he is married or not is irrelevant to me, because it's none of my business to judge what behavior may or may not be accepted in their specific marriage. No politician will ever admit to having an open marriage. Similarly, no politician should ever have to explain the details of their relationship with their spouse.
If my boss knew what I did in my private time, to the point of knowing the content of my texts/emails/etc, it might make him view my work at my job differently. And vice-versa. Though I am guilty of sending and receiving photos and emails in my life, I'm lucky that I'm not important enough for people to try to access and share the info, or others to care about it.
I've been in poly relationships before, and I have many friends in them now, and it's no problem. However, if any of them were running for public office, I would expect them to publicly present themselves as "traditional".
It's possible that his wife is devastated by this betrayal. It's also possible she had no problem with it. I've seen couples who encourage and even enjoy this kind if thing. It's not my business.
BUT, if one is running for public office, and needing the support of lots of people to whom that is foreign, extreme care is required, so as not to affect the public "image". His carelessness is more important to me than his actual actions
