From wikipedia, might be the actual reason the US wanted him jailed.

He has used his relation through marriage with radical Islamic cleric Abdul Majeed al-Zindani to help him gain interview access to Al Qaeda leaders, including the late Yemeni-American Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki.[1]

Obama has to remember that defending the US from terrorists is not part of his job and dealing with foreign governments is not part of his job. He's trying to make people believe he's the President.
