Ask most Americans about universal health care and you will get a resounding lecture about the evils of socialized medicine.

If you ask Americans why their health care prices are so expensive compared to the rest of the world, they will proudly announce that it’s because health care in the United states is the best in the world. But that’s far from the truth.

The United States health care system is ranked 37th in the world, which is far behind most other advanced countries. Yet compared to every other country in the world, Americans pay the highest prices for health care, bankrupting far too many people with or without insurance.
