Yes, it was, indeed, all a senseless, tragic nightmare. I blame the docs at the hospital as much as CPS for placing her with an incompetent foster parent who already had a history of violations with the agency. This is one of the top hospitals in the nation and for the docs not to recognize that particular disease as a possibility, especially since she showed no other signs of abuse or neglect and their son, who was there with them also, showed no signs of abuse or neglect at all, is simply inexcusable malpractice. I think they saw the interracial couple and the fact that they weren't of the "proper" socioeconomic status and allowed that to blind their judgment from there. That happens ALL the fucking time in the system, believe me. It's how middle and upper class parents often get away with abuse and neglect or buy their way out of it.
