I went to my moms cataract surgeries, I was basically lectured on what was to be done because she was going to be out of it and not remember her instructions. It was a little 5 minute spiel done so fast that I had no fucking clue what they wanted me to do (I had to read the paperwork afterward). I wasn't asked to sign anything but I looked at the paperwork and my mom had essentially signed "for me" saying that she was responsible if she didn't follow the instructions, which I was told she wouldn't remember. She didn't. The whole ride home she was catatonic and didn't remember any of it.

I was in the waiting room for 3 hours. They could've let me know during that time what I was to do, and even just left me with the instructions.
