Statute of Limitations for a plaintiff minor does not start to run until they turn 18. Maybe filing an answer to the complaint is not due until 30 days after the minor turns 18. So she defaulted as an adult and they entered the judgment against her. Not that turning 18 suddenly makes you able to handle litigation, but she would have known by then the suit was pending. Should have gotten legal advice, filed an answer and argued liability, but likely losing on that, argue the amount of the damages.
