(154,021 posts)Because that is the history of Russia going back to Peter the Great and Katherine...a few centuries before Stalin. The modern regime is no longer running the system of internal displacement that reached it's maximum actually under Stalin.
So you got insulted because not just me, but a few others who know that history, understand that the modern Russian Federation is actually better than Soviet Russia...and we dared tell you this. How much better is a good question, but the Gulag system is gone, as well as the internal exile system. Joe Stalin has been dead for a few decades, and the USSR has been gone for almost two as well.
You also got all in a tizzy when we mentioned what this country has done, including genocide and slavery, or the fact that this is a closing society.
There is a saying that applies here, but you will get even more insulted, so I will save it. I suggest ignore poster if you so chose. I won't feel insulted...in fact I don't care.
