123. Santorum is right--the Dem base cares more about gay rights than almost anything else

certainly the Dem base cares more about gay rights than any of the following issues that any true leftist party would support:
1) progressive taxation--the dem base gives mere lip service to this issue. But give them a post on gay rights on DU, and by gosh they will go into a frenzy.
2) universal healthcare--the dem base gives mere lip service to this issue. But give them a post on gay rights on DU, and by gosh they will go into a frenzy.


etc etc.

Santorum is basically right--the Dem party base is more concerned with gay rights than almost any other issue, at least recently. Now, when that culture war issue runs thin with the public, then our overlords will prompt the Dem and GOP base on some other trumped up bullshit culture war issue....maybe save the gay whales etc.

Disclaimer for the witch hunters: I do not support Santorum or the GOP. If I were to vote (and I only vote on local elections), then I would vote for Obama. Satisfied?
