(1,415 posts)leaving the state with no more money to spend, plus pension funds taking a crap. So, instead of just dumping pensions like governors in other states (which would have led to a shitstorm of epic proportions), they decide to tighten the belt for a couple years. Oh, no! Our primary and secondary state education system, with the highest school property taxes in the country with dick to show for it in performance, is told to look at cutting back on football programs and Astroturf for a few years, all while offering incentives to share $150k a year superintendents and elective courses with neighboring districts (which have a third of the student population of 10 years ago). The horror.
It's not like he has also helped increase green energy development, slowing down to actually STUDY Marcellus Shale hydrofracking (as opposed to people lighting their faucets on fire in the next state over), a new child tax credit, an industrial-only (i.e.: not Walmart) tax abatement for new businesses on the 20-some SUNY campuses, the Buffalo Billion stimulus, dropping unemployment...
But yeah, noting how he is the successful governor in the Empire State in decades (with on-time and early budgets, too.. which is, to quote Joe Biden, a "big fucking deal" for this state AS THEY HAVEN'T HAPPENED IN THREE DECADES) with a track record of reaching across the aisle to get progressive work done makes me a yuppie. Thank you!
