13. Some people are sincere. Others are not. Your friend is playing mind games with you.

You have a number of choices, including a choice to play one or more mind games in return. You don't have to choose to take his inane comments seriously. Nor do you have to choose to be frustrated his comments.

For one type of game to be played, you have to give the impression that you really mean it when you say something. Not toungue in cheek, but you really mean it. Just think of those "religious" people who may knock on your door from time to time with the I'm-so-happy-to-see-you-because-I'm-going-to-irritate-you-with-my-bullshit-type smiles.

What would happen if you were to tell him that not only have you learned that learned that he is right but that other top-level politicians, like Bush, were actually born in Germany. To make it credible and not spoil the fun, you need a "hook," something to say that almost makes sense. What if you were to say that you know that Bush was actually born in Germany because he hired Rumsfeld and they kept talking about the "fatherland." Since when to real Americans refer to America as the "fatherland?"

If you don't want to be annoyed and want to keep your friendship, just play mind-games back at him.

Alternatively, if you don't want to play games and want to associate with people who are sincere, then just choose to expand your circle of friends.
