In reply to the discussion: Disenfranchised 92yo black woman sues just hours after NC gov. signs voter ID law [View all]BumRushDaShow

Mrs. Eaton, who was born at home, has a current North Carolina drivers license, but the name on her certified birth certificate does not match the name on her drivers license or the name on her voter registration card, the lawsuit notes. Mrs. Eaton will incur substantial time and expense to correct her identification documents to match her voter registration record in order to meet the new requirements.
However they plan to verify voters *at the polling place* with the new law's criteria, her driver's license (the "photo ID" part) has a name on there that doesn't match her voter registration name. And to correct it so that these match her birth certificate, doing so will incur a cost just to be able to vote after decades of past practice of no issues.... And this new cost violates the 24th amendment to the Constitution which forbids a "poll tax".
That's why here in PA... literally while on the stand being questioned during the trials here last year, the state started waiving all the fees.

Yes, and only a strong GOTV will drive these guys from power. I'm encouraged by GA, MA and CO.
