This passage is pure horseshit! In the first place, the stink of prejudice was the point of her story and, as far as I could tell, was not being offered in any way for sympathy. Oprah does not seem to be the type of woman that gives a shit what people think of her at this point of her life. The author appears to believe that a wealthy woman that is the victim of racism is worthy of being mocked. It would be interesting to know if Harris-Perry would be less inclined to diminish Winfrey's experience of racism in this matter if this had happened over a cup of coffee or a sandwich.
