(2,770 posts)originated with a Politico piece, entitled "Snowden - Ten Things to Know".

which someone posted in an OP on DU:

As you can clearly see from the replies to that OP, the Snowden "non fans" (to use a neutral term) focused on three points: the fact that his resume didn't match the known facts, the fact that he had attained a high-tech position without having a HS diploma, and the fact that he was a Ron Paul donor/supporter.
As you can also clearly see, it was only the Snowden supporters who kept reiterating the minutia contained in the Politico piece re "boxes in his garage", "not a friendly neighbor". etc, while the Snowden non-fans only discussed the three points I've cited above.
Ergo, the "Snowden detractors" never made these "ridiculous claims", en mass or otherwise, nor did the Snowden detractors ever raise such trivial BS in subsequent posts about the man.
A site search makes it more than obvious that the only people here who constantly raise the "boxes in garage" meme are the Snowden fans, who seem to believe that if they attribute these bullshit quotes to having originated with the Snowden detractors, it will somehow be perceived as fact.
I stand to be corrected - and you can do your own DU search to prove me wrong - but in the literally hundreds of DU threads on the topic of Snowden, I have never seen a "Snowden detractor" point to "boxes in the garage" as indicative of anything - or, for that matter, even worthy of mention.
So much for the "Snowden detractors en mass used these ridiculous claims which were hilarious then and are still rightly made fun of." If you want to make fun of those who constantly allude to "boxes in the garage", feel free - but keep in mind that the people you'll be making fun of are not the Snowden detractors, but the Snowjobbed.
