(37,475 posts)You don't think Holder can make a difference for black Americans (tide is totally against us in America).
History - background. My grandfather and great grandfather could actually VOTE. They voted solid Republican. They had the education and wealth and the ability to pay people off (bribe) to get them the literacy tests and around the barriers. They often threw their votes away in Northern Alabama at that time - and voted against their interests (the tax and 'laundry' was through their farming interests).
Fast forward to the 1964 - my dad is home on leave. He's a Green Beret. His father forbid him to vote because of the danger. My dad had already won a purple heart for this piece of shit country. I was born in 1973. In 1976 Reagan went to Mississippi and gave a little speech condemning me (I take it personally) as a welfare queen in a caddy.
Look up ^^^ - That colors my world view.
Here's the thing - without 'this side's' solid black vote (we came out in historic numbers the past two elections) they've GOTCHA. They know without us - that everything else on the left falls apart. Why do you think they are doing anything and everything in their power to send us to the back of the bus?
So they've split us - but it's not black or hispanic/latino America's fault. Because it's not our fault if they are doing this to us. I just don't want it blamed on us in 2014 or 2016 because try as they will to say "They just stayed home" - that's not the truth.
They are going to deliberately and maliciously remove our rights to vote. It's already started. Blame them. Absolutely point the finger at them - but nobody better dare blame the brown folks in this country if they take it over in 2016.
Maybe the first hand experience and what has been handed down to us from our family struggles - well -
Maybe you can't relate to it. Maybe you can?
I don't know. But I can't relate to what the other side did (The Right during the Bush Admin) and is being carried on today - because they are playing from a playbook that the Tech World of 2013 can't comprehend.
The book is as old as Jim Crow.
