(38,206 posts)My mother tagged me with 5 names. Each governmental agency picks and chooses which of those names they think might fit on my Social Security card or Driver's License or whatever other government issued card I have to get. As a result, none of my official IDs/cards/etc. match my birth certificate as far as my name goes. They cannot fit all of those names, because the computers are set up to only have a first, middle, and last name entered. So, this is how it has always been. So far, for me, it has not been a problem. Most people in town know I have a long list of names, but, now, it is going to be a nightmare for each and every place I have to go to get all these various government issued cards to use ALL of my names to match my "right name" on my birth certificate. How, exactly, are they going to do that using my "right name" with only three (first, middle, and last) database entry spots in the computers?
