Man steals computer from a church and caught after asking to have the porn filter removed [View all]

A thief stole a computer from inside a church, but he was only caught after his repeated attempts to try and access pornography on the machine were thwarted by a security company, that he then rang to try and remove the porn block, who then lead the police straight to him.

Troy Ridling, who is a member of the Owasso First Assembly of God, which is located in Oklahoma, stole the piece of machinery from his own parish earlier in the month.

The church recognised that the theft was probably an inside job, as there wasn’t any signs of a break-in. However they still didn’t have any clues to help them find the criminal, and even after they called the police, who were of little help due to the lack of evidence, they were still flummoxed to how they could catch the person responsible.

However, Covenant Eyes, a tracking software company, soon helped crack the case wide open, when they noticed some peculiar activity on the stolen device. They called the church to tell them that whoever had the computer was trying to access a lot of porn, but they were unable to.
