(11,175 posts)You're trying to analogize it to the situation of a gay-bashing politician -- many people argue that a politician's private life is his or her own business, and that sexual orientation is not an appropriate subject for public debate, but that there's a legitimate exception that allows outing of a politician who's hypocritically exploiting homophobia.
You write of Christie, "He is part of the cabal that wants to control a womans body yet he cant control his own. It is fair game in my book at that point."
To my mind, that's too much of a stretch. People who have problems with their weight aren't thereby disqualified from having opinions about reproductive rights or even about something like food labeling requirements.
I'll admit my bias: I'm overweight myself (though not in the Limbaugh-Christie league, at least not yet). I agree with the OP. I've always felt somewhat uncomfortable with references to one of those obese right-wingers as a "fat fuck" or the like. We have plenty of other nasty things to say about them that don't raise such issues.
