And it astounds me - the contradiction - that religious zealots on the right spew as they demand this country be run according to the bible yet at the same time, speak of freedom and liberty.

There is no freedom nor liberty when a human being is shackled to dogma that limits thoughts and actions. There is no freedom nor liberty for a woman who cannot choose power over her own body because of religious restrictions. There is no freedom nor liberty when religion demands prejudice and demonizes populations of people for not believing in that specific religion.

There will be NO FREEDOM until all human beings can discard divisive religious beliefs and learn to recognize and accept others through similarities - accept people as a part of the whole. Human beings will never stop fighting if we don't evolve away from limited thought. And eventually, we will destroy ourselves because the path humanity has chosen is not sustainable. Is it possible to overcome what has been a self-destructive path since we first walked the earth? I still have faith it can be done, in spite of the insanity we see every day.
