I might incur a bunch of wrath but - if I could have access to my building with a finger scan I would not have a problem with it.

Hell, make it a punch in code too. What is the problem? My fingerprints have been logged into the FBI and NSA. If it would make it safer to get into my apartment I say way to go.

OK - tell me why I am wrong.
