I once worked for one of those organizations that didn't cover contraception in its health insurance coverage despite the premiums I paid each month. I was not a religious worker; I was a medical librarian. I paid $35 out of pocket every month for almost 2 years. And that was one of the least expensive prescriptions available.

Now, my health insurance covers the contraceptive prescription I use to keep from hemorrhaging, but it's still not cheap.

I am childfree, but I have 2 young nieces. They are the sort of girls of which Santorum is afraid -- intelligent, independent, curious, kind to everyone. And I will be damned if they will ever not have control over their bodies and lives.
