(14,851 posts)I dont use it for rude or annoying or disagreeable people. Or arguments. I dont seem to have anyone on ignore at this point. Havnt thought to look in 3 months or more. So that gives you some idea
That said, I have used it. I use it when I am convinced that a poster is not posting in good faith. I ignore the people whom I would TS were I a moderator. And so far, when I get around to looking at my list every month or three, generally most of them have been Ts'd.
But I can understand the desire. Its one thing to have "free thinking" or "open discussion". But there are some posters who, if you have read one post, you have literally read the content of every post. There are a fair number of posters who do not add any food for thought, nor any points for discussion. There is no value added by their posts. I keep hoping, but that hope never seems to be fulfilled. Its tempting to ignore them, because then I might be less tempted to engage someone who has no intent to engage in good faith discussion.
