(9,385 posts)Flamebait and shit-stirring propaganda goes straight in the trash. That way, I don't have to be distracted by that mess being kicked evry two seconds, and it makes the real threads easier to see. Plus, there are certain super-contentious topics that I choose not to get involved in -- when it gets OTT I'll trash those too to keep them out of the way.
(Another thing I do sometimes, is to click "Time Started" on the forum page headings so I can see the newest threads. Sometimes they fall really fast, and get lost among older threads that are being kicked a lot.)
Jerks in threads, I can just skip past easily enough.
However I will say this, there are some people on here who obviously post deliberately aggravating things in an effort to goad someone into getting a post hidden. If a person feels they are likely to respond to that, it's a good idea to just put that poster on ignore. Those types never say anything worth seeing anyway.
