(9,033 posts)I would start with the assumption that just because we can do a thing doesn't mean we should.
I would demand an immediate review of the procedures, the scope of the program, the Constitutionality, the protections, the costs, the possible abuses, everything...I'm guessing that, not being a crackpot realist, I would see the inherent dangers far out-weighing the possible returns.
And then I would go to Congress with what I had learned, lay it out and make the case for at least drastically rewriting the law. If it is as bad as my Senator (Mark Udall) seems to think I would push for repeal. If Congress won't go along (likely in this climate) I would rewrite the rules and direct monies elsewhere--the Executive Branch has a lot of leeway as to how it executes the laws.
What would you do?
