In the last week we've seen a growing cadre of elite repubicans bemoaning the state of the repubican candidates. Alan Simpson, Barbara Bush's slightly more acceptable but fatter headed son, Mike Steele, Haley Barbour, Gramps McCain, and others have taken to the punditpulpit to decry the sorry state of right wing electoral affairs.

While they do that, their Crazy Fucking Base (CFB™) is cheering whatever more outrageous thing the Unfab Four spew in their efforts to outcrazy the others.

Is it too far fetched to think the insiders decided a long time ago that they'd cede this round to the Democrats, trot out their absolutely wack-jobiest wack-jobs so they could shoot them down instead of the Democrats?

It seems to me that it is *entirely* possible this is an insider tactic to take their own party back from the Tea Party types.









I also wonder if Dick Armey is not in a repubican reeducation camp somewhere, but's a whole other discussion . . . . . .
