(6,655 posts)been pointed out in this thread, there are absolutely no Freedom of Speech issues here. The First Amendment only applies to government interference with speech in a public venue, and there are even exceptions to that principle (certain forms of hate speech, the famous "falsely shouting fire in a crowded theater" analogy, disturbing the peace, etc.). The question of whether or not an employee can alter a piece of equipment is strictly a work-related issue and has absolutely nothing to do with anyone's "rights."
The same principle applies in a private home, or on a private Internet discussion web site. Take DU, for example: The owners and admins set the rules for what can, and can not be posted on this web site, and there is no such thing as "freedom of speech" on DU. The same applies to most private venues with few exceptions (shopping malls, and other "private" but open to the public venues).
So for all of the FAUX supporters on DU, and those participating in this thread in particular, please take the time to try and understand your righteous rants before you make utter fools of yourselves. Fuck FAUX Snooze and those who support it by watching it, or defending it in a private venue like DU.
