I watched the news tonight..oh boy [View all]
PBS announced the deaths of 7 service men and women in Afghanistan. And though the news was rather sad, I just had to look, at the 26 year olds and the 30 year olds who were never to return.
They had to count them all. For year upon year we count them all. We never stop. It will never stop. They sit on what's left of our conscienceness of what humanity should be,could be.
They write the books before the soldiers war is even done. The ones that show the soldier future and the soldier past in 58 minutes. The scrap heaps of humanity, the ants to the queens. I saw the film today..oh boy. From documentaries 12 years on. Nobody was really sure.
This generation stopped in time. unable to move forward. Reload the loop. Feed the tigers.
No jobs. Lousy jobs. No homes. Lousy homes. No food. Lousy food. No education. Lousy education. No vote. Lousy votes.
I saw the photograph. I can't remember them all. No one can. But they play the photographs like TAPS to the crowd of people who still care. The crowd of people who once stood and stared at the buildings falling down, down, down a long time ago. Waste visible. Carnage of disposable human beings. Preserve the plastic bags.
Found my way downstairs and had a cup. Found my way upstairs and had a smoke. Found my way to the dream.
And I just had to laugh.
