there is an Americans With Disabilities Act that has helped to allow so many returning injured soldiers (and vets of previous wars) to ease back into society - whether riding public transit (wheel chair accessible), crossing streets (curb cuts), or entering/working in larger buildings (ramps, handicapped-accessible bathrooms, doors, etc.).

But there have been very few times when this nation was not at war.
