3. The southern section from Cushing, Oklahoma to the Gulf of Mexico

Aug 2013

Currently, the price of oil in Cushing, OK is $106.42 while the price of North Sea Brent is $111.04. The difference has been larger and reflects that land-locked oil in OK is unable to get to the coast and trade for international, sea-borne oil prices. As the pipelines from Cushing to the Gulf ramp up, they will supply Gulf Coast refineries, oil imports to the Gulf will decrease and prices will equalize.
