9. 25 years ago I took a boat trip out to Anacapa Island off the coast of Ventura County.

On the way out, we were accompanied by a megapod. It was a thrilling experience.

When we got up on top of the island, w could see the pod as it circled the island clockwise. We estimated that it was perhaps ONE SQUARE MILE of dolphins, all within about a human's arm length of each other.

How many is that??? I figure tens of thousands. It was freaking unbelievable, but I saw it with my own eyes and so did a whole boatload of people.
