8. I have pushed this idea for a long time - make it like jury duty

Get people from all walks of life, have them serve a term and then head back home. Compensate them for the term to ensure that it is no hardship on them or their families.

I think there are benefits well beyond getting an accurate slice of society as leaders. Imagine the benefits of bringing people from all walks of life together, letting them discuss issues, make decisions, and then return to their homes. I think it would bring an understanding of what effects others to all parts of society.
