PAC money, student voter fraud allegations lead up to contentious school board elections

Campaign finances and PAC funding have been at the tip of everyone's tongues for the duration of the race, as this election's campaign coffers are as large as triple the size seen in previous years.

Challenging candidates have received upwards of $160,000 in campaign donations, largely from PACs funded and chaired by local businesses and business interests, according to campaign finance records.

Educate Tuscaloosa PAC – which contributed as much as $15,000 per non-incumbent candidate – also funded post cards mailed to local households recently that state the current board has "failed to meet its responsibility."

Echols also chairs other PACs, including T Town PAC II, which recently contributed $63,000 to Alabama Governor Robert Bentley's re-election campaign – of which Echols is also treasurer -- in addition to Garrison's school board campaign.
