more or less. His family has a long military history. I'm sure he was raised hearing a lot of talk about military campaigns and such; they probably didn't talk about much else besides war.

He knew he could have a political career because of his patriotic bona fides as a POW, and he's coasted along on that ever since. He thought the Presidency was owed to him, and he never got over losing, especially to Obama, for various reasons. He should have retired after he lost that election. At this point, he's more likely to make a fool of himself than anything else.
