I do not support criminal wars of aggression, whether on the ground or anywhere else, for any reason. Absent a direct and imminent threat to the U.S., our own signature on the U.N. Charter forbids us from unprovoked attacks against other nations. One of our greatest chief justices once defined exactly what we did in Iraq and are talking about doing in Syria-- attacking another country that is not a threat-- as the greatest crime of all, the crime that contains all others.

It's disingenuous in the extreme to equate that with support for tyrants. I'll do a happy dance if Assad is deposed, and I'll be even happier if he is brought to justice at The Hague. But we are not the worlds' cops, and we MUST NOT use our military to enforce foreign policy interests against nations that do not credibly threaten us.
