(15,185 posts)but on the issue of foreign intervention, I am more in agreement with that wing of the crazy party than I am even with the Democratic wing that thinks we can solve all problems abroad with a few cruise missiles.
Right now on the issue of building and maintaining an empire, the neo-conservative mindset IS the established viewpoint and is considered serious and mainstream. Why is that? Just yelling "fuck the Pauls" feels great but in reality the Pauls on this issue are talking more sense than McCain, Graham, and the (thankfully ex-Senator) Lieberman who are all in favor of the intervention (and are more die-hard than the president in wanting an intervention).
I actually do hope the House and Senate vote overwhelmingly against getting involved in Syria. Chemical weapons are nasty and the death of over a hundred thousand civilians is horrific, but the reality is people have been getting killed there for over two years. There is nothing we can do to achieve peace.
