Rep. Alan Grayson said Tuesday he is sick and tired of the comparison to the situation in Syria to Adolf Hitler and Munich in 1938 made by Secretary of State John Kerry, dismissing it as irrelevant. Im sick and tired of stupid historical metaphors that have nothing to do with this. I dont think that theres many people alive who remember Munich right now and properly so, that has nothing to do with this, Grayson (D-Fla.) told MSNBC on Tuesday. The outspoken Florida Democrat said the situation in Syria is a civil war that was nothing to do with the U.S. or any of its allies.
Not a single American has been attacked. Not anyone of our allies has been attacked, Grayson said. If youre looking for historical analogies, lets talk about Iraq and Afghanistan. Those seem like historical analogies that might actually be more relevant than Munich.
Even if you follow the analogy, Grayson said the expensive and dangerous plan being contemplated wont accomplish anything to help the situation, anyway.
The attack thats being contemplated wont do any good. Were not going to get rid of Assad through this attack, were not going to disarm him through this attack, were not going to do anything significant to prevent him from doing exactly what he may have done before, Grayson said.
Grayson said the money that would be spent on an attack would be better put to humanitarian uses or domestic issues.

Grayson is bang on. The money should be used to aid the massive surge in refugees.
