In reply to the discussion: Thread to mourn the passing of the soul of John Kerry [View all]karynnj
(60,928 posts)143. I think the opposite is true - he is motivated by his reaction to what he
called a moral obscenity. Look up his 2006 speech against the bill that he said "condoned torture" - or any speeches around that time. Not to mention it was the passion of his 1971 speeches. He also had a very passionate speech on the right and privilege to dissent on the 35th anniversary.
I think that in 2004, he was actually restrained by wanting to win and because he was actually less healthy than he was before 2003 or after the election. He was successfully treated for cancer in February 2003.

Yup, I think it's a position of prestige without power, like a ambassadorship.

So the plans will achieve the goals of "sending a message" with a "limited" punitive strike

I think that is going overboard. They want to bomb a few military sites. I do not support it

A few military sites? Kerry even had trouble ruling out boots on the ground.

The President promised there would be no boots on the ground. I take him at his word.

I agree with you and disagree with Kerry. I just dislike statements like the one I responded to. nt
