3. "workers, made out like bandits in all of this"

That is the crux of the problem -- not that I think workers did, but just that they didn't get totally screwed.

People like Romney were salivating at the chance to declare bankruptcy and wipe out all of the pensions and other benefits the workers had accrued and drive down future salaries and benefits.
