5. I remember an article in "Soldier of Fortune" magazine during the Russian Occupation...

...of Afghanistan, the author (who's name I can't remember) commented on a town meeting. Specifically on the Inman's sermon. As I remember it the Inman claimed the USSR invaded not for the expected reasons of exploiting resources, but because of the world's most beautiful sunsets happened in Afghanistan. He emphatically stated that the reason the Afghani fought so hard was to protect their treasured sunsets. The closing line of the article was the question "How do you fight the people who would fight over sunsets?"

The right wing fundamentalist christian are looking more and more like people who would kill other people over sunsets. Forget debate, how do you even talk to people who have such investment in fantasy?
