(60,860 posts)There is NO information that suggests that Clark is close to anyone in Obama's inner circle. This is not to criticize Clark, who I respect, but I think there were things said in 2008 when he supported Hillary that would make him an unlikely Obama pick.
Not to mention, Clark - or anyone else would have to advocate for Obama's position - just like Kerry.
I think that you need to consider successes that Kerry has had - like restarting the Israel/Palestine talks and being involved in reconciling Turkey and Israel. In addition, he seems to have helped the relations with Pakistan and his visit was slightly before they overturned the conviction of the doctor who helped us get OBL - may be coincidence, but maybe not. What did happen was that the new President respects and likes him - not something many Americans have. (He also is good with India - which might be important in that area - as an assistant to Holbrooke noted.)
