Bill Clinton said his biggest regret was not going into Rwanda to save lives. I see this as humanitarian, not regime change, not Saddam tried to kill my daddy, not 9/11 bait and switch, but an effort to deter the snakes in the snakepit from going near the neighborhoods filled with children, women and the aged and afflicted, who were gassed unmercifully.

This is more like saving people from the Nazi camps than any BS Bush Shock & Awe. We're not going in to beat our breasts about nationalism, this isn't a jingoistic venture, it's to deter Bashir Assad and anyone else from ever doing this again.

If Putin can stiff-arm Assad into getting rid of the CW, all the better. But the situation can't just stand as is. Otherwise, we aren't the America I grew up in.
